Celorico de Basto is in the district of Braga, North of Portugal and it is one of the poorest regions in the country. The population works mainly in the agriculture, growing cereal (corn) and wine. In fact, it is the latter that makes this region so popular, as well as its diversified craftwork.

As far as industry and commerce are concerned, Celorico de Basto produces construction materials and shoe wear and its population sells craftwork, wine and home-made preserves, delicatessen, sausages and honey.

Set on a mountainous area, Celorico is a very pleasant village, good for radical sports and open air activities, such as visiting Arnóia’s medieval castle or the numerous rural manors and the wire bridge. This doesn’t mean that it is an isolated village. On the contrary, it is about half an hour to Guimarães and an hour to Porto by car, as its roads are very good.

Our school is on the left bank of River Freixieiro, next to the village park and it is a very cool place where we study and make good friends.
