Aims In Portuguese schools the absence of petrographical microscopes is almost a general trend. The high cost of this equipment in relation to the biological microscopes leads to a deficient perception of students by geological subjects. This application simulates real microscopical observations of rocks. Obviously doesn't replace the traditional microscope but, when there isn't another possibility, it is a good way to solve this problem. This on-line application, a preview for a more complete version that will be available for CD-ROM edition, is available only in portuguese version. Only some pages are available in english.
